We all know that the Ascendant Shards are one of the rarest materials in Destiny 2 and you are required to have the Masterwork a legendary armor, and 3 to masterpiece an exotic. Most of the Destiny 2 players think it of as a fortune. Old players could only get the Ascendant Shard by buying them from Banshee-44 for around 10 Prisms or 100 cores or they have to get the season pass rank 100 to get the material. The material was added in the game during the Trials of Osiris and it was added as the chest rewards in the game. Checkout: Destiny 2 Lunar Battlegrounds and Captive Cord | Locations for the Essence of Failure

After that, Bungie also added the material as once-per-season reset rewards to Crucial vendors and Gambit. But let us inform you that it looks like that it is very hard to get the Ascendant Shards but we will let you know how you can earn these in Destiny 2, have a look.

How to Earn Ascendant Shards: Destiny 2 Grandmaster Nightfall

Bungie has added the Ascendant Shard for an entire Gambit reset but a user named u/AnghellicKarma on Reddit, did this calculation, have a look:

  • During a regular-season/week, if you build a 5-streak and never ever lose, you can hit max XP for a reset after ~67 matches
  • If you always lose, you will need 274 matches, and then ~20 wins (because the last rank only earns XP from a win)
  • During Triple Infamy week, you can max out the rank for a reset after only ~25 matches if you never lose and maintain a 5-win streak
  • During Triple Infamy week, if you always lose, it will be 93 matches, then ~7 wins needed to hit the rank reset

The worst part of all this stuff is that the developers, Bungie are trying to make progress in Destiny 2 but by throwing a lot of sources on the game, and that needs to be stopped. Many players are not actually happy about it.

Bungie is dumping a lot of resources on Destiny 2, instead, they should not nerf the GMs.
